Water Fire Extinguisher
When fire extinguishers were first made, there was only one type, water fire extinguishers. Technological advances have now created new forms of extinguishants, but water is still the best for use on Class A fires, where live electrical connections are not present.
A water fire extinguisher is clean, easy to use, cheap to refill, and leaves no nasty sticky residue to clean up afterwards. Our standard 9 litre fire extinguisher has an 13A rating, indicating the size of fire it is able to extinguish. With special chemical additives are mixed with water, the efficiency can be increased such that a 3 litre hydrospray fire extinguisher can be as effective as a 9 litre non-additive extinguisher.
How To Identify Water Fire Extinguishers
Water fire extinguishers are solid red in colour, and should be either wall mounted or placed on a proper fire extinguisher stand. All water fire extinguishers from Essential Fire Safety come with a wall hanging hook, and a five year manufacturer warranty from Thomas Glover and Co, a respected manufacturer which is part of the same group of companies as Chubb Fire and Kidde. As well as the BS EN3 approved solid red colour, water fire extinguishers are also available in shiny chrome versions, for the design-conscious environment. Identical to normal extinguishers except for their finish, chrome extinguishers will not rust or chip.
