How Smoke Alarms Work
Smoke alarms work by literally 'seeing' the smoke particles raised by a fire. They are ideal for use in clean environments such as offices, and in the living areas and bedrooms of your home.
Heat alarms work, as you would expect, by detecting a rise in temperature. Since they react to heat, not airborne particles, they are ideal for use in steamy or smoky environments such as kitchens, and in dusty environments such as factory floors and domestic lofts.
