No Smoking Signage
Since smoking was banned in public places in England on 1 July 2007, 'No smoking' signs have become very much part of our lives. The English smoking ban prohibits smoking in almost any enclosed public space, workplaces, or in any vehicle not for exclusive private use. The law also requires all business owners to take measures to stop people smoking on company premises and in company vehicles. Positioning Your No Smoking Signs'No Smoking' signs are required in any premises occupied or visited by your staff or customers. All non-smoking signs at entrances to your premises must be at least A5 in size, although they can be smaller in sub-areas of a larger smoke-free premises, such as staff rooms inside a factory or warehouse. We recommend our rigid plastic no smoking signs, which meets the legal requirements that the no-smoking symbol be at least 70mm in diameter. The smoking ban also applies to 'substantially enclosed premises', defined as any structure which is more than 50% walls. So, if you have temporary structures, exhibition spaces, or even marquees and tents, these must also be smoke-free, with no smoking signs clearly displayed. Any shared company vehicles should also have a no smoking sign in them.
